The land mullet

September 22
Scored today on the bowerbird front. Sara found a nice bower near the Woolgoolga school; bird swooped down into the forest and she tracked it down. She also found the long sought after land mullet! We did lots of scouting along some walking paths nearby but the rest of the afternoon was quiet.

The day started off action packed for after our morning surf at Sandy Beach I took a quick walk up on the headland and saw an adult male bowerbird. Little by little we crept into the area and watched a few young males practicing their courtship moves. There were bits of blue stuff around, but no bower. Towards the end of our explorations there we saw an adult male come in, take a blue soda straw, and fly off with it. Hopefully tomorrow we can track him down and pinpoint his bower. .
