The Train from Sydney

September 10

Left Sydney on the train, bound for the Coffs Coast region where we will be conducting the bulk of our bowerbird research. Beautiful trip through rangelands, eucalyptus forests, and river systems. All the while we could usually see mountains somewhere in the distance.
When we got of the train, we asked two women if they knew of a taxi service. They said just come with us, we will give you a ride! It was quite the squeeze packing in 6 large pieces of luggage into their not so big car. We had plenty of weight on our laps; I almost couldn’t even close the door. So neat that they offered.
After a short drive in our rental car we made it to the campground where we met the couple who were selling us their camper trailer. They had driven 8 hours to deliver it to us! We went out to dinner together and had a great time talking about education for he was not only a teacher, but a principal as well as a district superintendent.
